"My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you - I whom you have delivered”

Mr B McArdle
Subject Leader

The Music curriculum at St Damian’s is designed and delivered as an academic subject. As such, students will learn how to read, analyse, compose and perform using traditional staff notation. Fluency within this is area is proven to improve academic success across the entire curriculum as studies state that reading music, composing and playing a musical instrument enhance performance at GCSE. By studying Music at St Damian’s, pupils will have the opportunity to sing and perform on range of instruments, as well as learn how to participate in ensemble performances that help build the ‘whole student’.  They will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to contextualise, analyse and listen (aural perception) with discrimination to a range of musical genres and artists.
