Governors

A Welcome from our Chair of Governors, Mrs E Jones

Dear Parents/Carers,
Once again as Chair of Governors I am delighted to welcome all our parents, old and new, to our website. I hope you will find all the information you need here, but if not please don’t hesitate to get in touch either with the school or myself via school.
This last academic year has seen St Damian’s receive many accolades, you may have read about these in the press or from Mr. Logue’s recent letter to parents. In July we were particularly proud to be named Secondary School of the Year by the Manchester Evening News. We were also named as the top school in Tameside in the Real Schools Guide published by the MEN in July of this year. Our examination successes have continued and we have continued to go from strength to strength. I am sure this will continue this coming academic year. The staff once again has exceeded all expectations, not because of things laid down by Government and external agencies, but because of their own desire to help your children ensure they receive the best possible education. You can be sure your children are receiving not just an academic education but an all-round Catholic education. We are rightly proud of our reputation for the outstanding pastoral support of our children. We are fully inclusive and every child matters to us and with the excellent experienced staff we have and the facilities available I am confident in saying your child couldn’t be at a better school. It is a school where we recognise each child’s individual needs, talents and contributions.
As Chair of Governors I think you will have learned how proud I am of St Damian’s and assure you we will do our very best to ensure your child enjoys their stay with us, is kept safe and achieves their full potential and leaves here as a responsible, respectful, educated, caring member of the community with values that are second to none.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future at one of our various events.
Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth Jones
