Subject Leader

The main intention of the geography curriculum at St. Damian’s is to create globally aware citizens that care for and understand the world around them. This is achieved by pupils studying a range of locations around the world on a variety of different scales. Pupils look at both physical and human processes and understand the interdependence between the two. We aim to ignite a curiosity about the world by asking and answering pertinent questions. Interleaved throughout the curriculum is the issues we currently face globally and ways in which these can be overcome to help make the world a better place. Pupils will have a good understanding of different cultures around the world to become more culturally aware. Key geographical skills are acquired through the delivery of the knowledge rich curriculum and are revisited throughout different topics in different contexts.
