It is my privilege to lead this proudly Catholic school. At St Damian’s, the rationale for everything we do is born of the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Gospel values he taught us.
Our staff here are exceptional. They are compassionate and committed to the Catholic ethos of the school. They consistently demonstrate high levels of expertise in teaching, learning and pastoral guidance. Everyone associated with the school, past and present, is a valued member of the St Damian’s family.
The pupils are delightful to know and a pleasure to teach. They are welcoming, friendly and hardworking. As a result of our common aims, and with the grace of God, the pupils here feel loved and cared for.
We are a living Catholic community, and we seek to forge positive relationships with parents and carers. With their strong support, we maintain exceptionally high standards of uniform, conduct and effort from the pupils. This enables us to focus on providing the pupils with a first-class education, rich in opportunities for learning and growth within and beyond the classroom. There is also an abundance of extra-curricular activities and pathways for pupil leadership.
St Damian’s has also long benefitted from the support given by a committed and experienced team of governors, led by Mrs Loretta Dean. The Governors are deeply invested in the school and its pupils.
We take great pride in our academic achievements. We routinely perform at the highest level, and our class of 2026 have done themselves proud. As a collective, they have achieved the best GCSE results in Tameside, with many outstanding individual performances. This is testament to the pupils’ hard work and determination. We want to equip every pupil so they can go on to have fulfilling, successful lives. In partnership with parents and carers, we guide them through their spiritual, emotional and academic journeys.
